Things To Do in Daytona Beach

Daytona beach is a popular vacation destination on the Atlantic coast of Florida. Mostly known for its booze, boobs, beaches, and bikers it is commonly misconstrued as nothing but a party town. Don’t be fooled though! Daytona has a wide variety of attractions and activities that people of all ages can enjoy.

The Boardwalk – Ocean Walk Village
Quite possibly the most popular spot on the beach. It is currently being reconstructed after hurricane damage, but it still offers tons of entertainment. You can check out the old (practically prehistoric) arcade on the pier or grab a meal at Bubba Gumps. Home to tons of bars and shopping, Ocean Walk Village will keep you entertained for sure.

The Sling Shot
A MUST do while in Daytona Beach. The sling shot sends you towering hundreds of feet in the air while you twist, turn, and flip over and over again. If you manage to keep your eyes open you can catch views of the entire beach and all of Daytona from up top. A video camera is built into the chair and for an extra amount you can purchase a DVD of your ride. If it isn’t too busy the operators might let you do it a few times!

Ponce Inlet
Located a short distance from Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet has a lighthouse and beautiful beaches. Climb to the top of the Ponce de Leon lighthouse and keep your eyes peeled for a ghost. The lighthouse is said to be one of the most haunted lighthouses in America! Picnic areas and walking trails are available as well.

New Smyrna Beach
This has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. White sandy beaches line shore with jetties that are perfect for fishing and climbing. The beach is quiet and never has as many people as Daytona Beach. The drive to New Smyrna from Daytona down a nearly untouched stretch of AIA is as gorgeous as the beach itself.

The Daytona 500 Experience
Formerly known as Daytona USA this place will offer loads of entertainment and racing education. With rides, a movie theatre, museum, and more this place is great for families and NASCAR fans. The Daytona 500 Experience is NASCARS official attraction.

Daytona International Speedway
No trip to Daytona would be complete without a visit to the famous speedway. Home of “the great American race”, the Daytona 500 is an incredible site to see. If you’re lucky you might get to catch a race. Even if you aren’t a NASCAR fan, watching a race is a humbling experience. Sit and feel the breeze as the cars whiz by, while your adrenaline rushes through you. Be careful though, you might just end up addicted to the sport!

Angell and Phelps Chocolate Factory
A perfect place for everyone with a sweet tooth. This place offers tours of the factory and tons of goodies for you to purchase and take home. Just don’t give yourself a belly ache!

Aside from these suggestions, there is a ton more to do in Daytona such as museums, ghost tours, Harley Davidson experiences, ballparks, helicopter rides, and golfing at the famous Legends of LPGA International.

Spring break in Daytona is also a popular thing to do.
