Plan a Southern Weekend Getaway
Weekend getaways are a fun way to escape the daily routine and also get a chance to visit some new places. As soon as spring hits, I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and the southern weekend getaways are excellent choice right now.
Look for a cheap flight to Atlanta from Miami – for which you should rack up about $210 per person, round trip – and make sure to also book the airport parking at Miami airport . Now you can start focusing on the days spent checking out Atlanta and some of the places near-by.
Pine Mountain is located just an hour drive from Atlanta and is an excellent choice for those looking to spend time outdoors. The near-by nature reserves offer plenty of options for being active outdoors. The wild animal safari is also an interesting choice.
Chattanooga is just 2 hours drive from Atlanta and is a scenic city. You can spend time on the river or in the mountains. Plus there are many sights to visit within the city.
Even closer to Atlanta, you’ll find Macon, just 1.5 hours drive. It is known as the “Cherry Blossom Capital of the World” and there’s a festival in March celebrating the event. It also has a long music history, which means your ears will be delighted with awesome live music.
If you are looking for a historical getaway, then Savannah is a good choice. It’s just 4 hours drive from Atlanta and its colonial architecture is superb. Once you get in the city, check in at the hotel and then start exploring everything on foot. The southern hospitality and the charming atmosphere will make you love the city.
