Mickey Mouse wants you at Disneyworld
Whether you’ve got kids or you cannot wait to unleash your inner child, planning to spend a vacation at Disneyworld is a good idea. And since the budget always gives us at least some headaches, we are here to help with some ideas to save money while still having fun.
The airline ticket often represents the biggest purchase no matter where you plan to fly (unless you miraculously find a very cheap flight and fly for almost nothing). But when it comes to flying to a very popular vacation destination, it usually means you’ve got to take some time to figure out what’s the best deal available.
Nicknamed “Mickey’s Corporate Office”, Orlando International Airport is a hub for Freedom Airlines and Delta Connection carriers Chautauqua Airlines, as well as focus city for AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines. So make sure to start your search by looking for whatever deals they might offer. And you can rest assured that there are means of transport which take you directly from the airport to Walt Disney World. Choices include: local bus, shuttle van, taxi and (why not?) limousine.
If you plan to avoid the crowds and hefty airfare, then choose not to fly during: children’s vacation, weekends (in general), national holiday weekends and holidays (Easter, Christmas, New Year). Instead, choose a mid-week flight outside the busy periods. If you don’t travel with children, it’s best to plan your vacation during the school year when the park is not that busy.
Where to stay
When it comes to finding a place to stay, many travelers choose one of the Disneyworld Hotels located within the resort itself. Thankfully, even within the resort there are some budget hotels to choose from if your accommodation budget doesn’t include splurging.
Or even better, you can look for some budget hotels outside the resort. If you choose a hotel near the park you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that they might offer a shuttle service to Disneyworld.
While hotels might be the perfect choice for some travelers, others prefer to avoid them and look for rental houses near Disneyworld . This is usually the best choice for small groups, like two families with children. You will probably have to rent a car to travel from the rental house to the parks but you’ll be saving money on avoiding restaurants and other extras you are tempted to purchase when you stay in a hotel.
Another option to consider is to camp near Disneyworld and there are plenty of reasons to do so. Of course it’s all about saving money on accommodation but it’s also about the freedom of camping and the possibility to enjoy staying outdoors pretty much all the time. Some of the campsites offer swimming pools, tennis courts and the possibility to enjoy different activities.
