Key West and Miami: warm choices for autumn

key-westIf you are stuck in a cold weather city – just like me – you are probably moaning about the weather already: rainy, gloomy cold days which make you want to just crawl in bed with a cup of hot coffee. And it’s not even winter yet! Add a bit of seasonal depression and you’ve got a rather “dark” picture of autumn. But wait, it doesn’t have to be like that. How about t-shirt weather, walking on the beach and enjoying outdoor activities?

Now, look for that cheap ticket to Miami and then plan some days of fun and sun in the city and on the near-by Key West.

Key West – ecotourism, festivals and lovely weather

Key West is both a city and an island, part of the famous Florida Keys. It is a famous vacation destination year round thanks to its location. Tourists flock here for the water sports and for the ecotourism activities. And if you’ve got some free time on your hands, make sure to check out the museum and the McCoy Indigenous Park as well.

The closest airport to Key West is Miami so you’ve got an excuse to visit the city as well. The island might be small but finding hotels in Key West is not a very thing although the hotels here tend to be more expensive than on other Keys. Expect to pay at least $89 per night if you choose a motel during the weekdays. Typically, the weekend rates are higher.

Miami – shopping before the holidays

It’s definitely a good idea to plan to spend couple of days in Miami (before or after your vacations in Key West). Now it’s a good time to do the Christmas shopping (if you haven’t managed to do that yet) and also a nice period to hunt for some interesting clothing items.

And if you plan to stick around for some days, make sure to look for cheap Miami hotels and plan your budget accordingly. If I were you, I’d go with a cheap yet clean room and spend the rest of the money on shopping…but that’s just me. You can find rooms starting at $50 per night, right on Miami Beach.

We haven’t forgotten Disney World

Since you are already in Florida, how about getting on the first flight to Orlando and spend a day or two checking out Disney World. There are plenty of ways to save money on your Disney World vacation and they include visiting the theme parks during the low season (autumn).

Romantic vacation for you

Key West, Miami and Disney World are excellent choices for a quick romantic getaway. You really don’t need a special reason to surprise your loved one, do you? Then, what are you waiting for? There’s nothing like walking hand in hand on a deserted beach, waiting for the sunset.
