Daytona was once one of the most popular beaches in the state during the 60s and 70s. It slowly lost its popularity with everyone except for race fans, bikers, and spring breakers. Over the years though, Daytona has been getting a major face lift and is being to be restored to its former glory. Famous events like the Daytona 500 and Bike Week take place here every year. It is also a major party spot during the spring break months. There is a major convention center in the area, a cool boardwalk and pier, and a small waterpark.
Things to do in Daytona Beach
The popular South Beach is the place to be seen. It is here that you might see random celebs lounging on the beach or living it up in the night clubs. South beach isn’t a nude beach, but will be hard pressed to walk down the beach and not see some model or hottie tanning her breasts and buns. South beaches coast line is popular during the day, but at night it is a whole other story. The city is filled with high end night clubs and amazing restaurants.
Pronounced “co-co” beach is made popular by two things. One is the world famous surf shop Ron Jons Surf Shop. This is the mecca of surf shops. Think about a surf shop the size of walmart and that’s about what you get at Ron Jons Surf Shop. The other major attraction is the beaches proximity to the Kennedy Space Center. Many people come here to watch the shuttle launch. So many people in fact that it can be hard to get a room around a launch date.
If you are looking for a Florida beach that is a bit more on the relaxed side and not full of tourists or spring breakers, New Smyrna is the place to check out. they only have a handful of hotels and motels, and tons of houses right on the beach. You may be able to find a beach house rental here for very cheap. Don’t expect a lot to do here other than enjoy the beach and your company. The city is small and by no means a major tourist attraction. New Smyrna is one of the last beaches in Florida that you are allowed to drive on. Many people enjoy tailgate parties and beach picnics here year round.
