Sometimes visitors to the Orlando and Kissimmee area of Florida want to enjoy themselves without having to even think of the word Disney. However, in a world covered in mouse ears it can get difficult to find family fun without being swamped in life size cartoons. Believe it or not though, it is possible to spend an entire week in Orlando without even saying the word Disney. Check out our suggestions.

Discovery Cove
Loads of fun packed into an amusement/waterpark. Here you can visit wildlife and marine life, you can even swim with the dolphins. Perfect for a hot, Florida day. Sit and relax in the water for a Disney-free day. Florida residents get a hefty discount.

La Nouba Cirque du Soleil
Not exactly Vegas style, but fabulous none the less. Enjoy the crazy, contorted maneuvers of the permenant Cirque du Soleil show at the Downtown Disney theatre.

Gatorland
At Gatorland you can get up close and personal with over 3,000 alligators and over 80 crocodiles. Visit the wild bird and snake exhibits or catch a gator show. Fun for a laugh and a great learning experience for kids.

Mall at Milennia
The mall is an enormous, upscale shopping mecca. Recognized and visited mostly for its stunning contemporary architecture, the mall is a perfect place to on a rainy or lazy day.

Skyventure Orlando
Did you watch Charlie and his grandpa float through Wonka’s tunnel and wish you could do that? At Skyventure Orlando you can. The tunnel simulates Sky Diving so well that professionals often use the tunnel for practice and entertainment.

Harry P. Leu Gardens
Super affordable admission aside, this garden is well worth the visit. Explore the beautiful, tropical flora and fauna and learn a thing or two about nature.

Pirates Cove Adventure Golf
Great fun for the whole family is at Pirates Cove. Kids will love the pirate décor and pirate ship while they fight golf balls into the hole. The facility also has games and a snack bar.

SeaWorld
Contrary to popular belief, Seaworld is not run by Disney. Visit Shamu and all her friends; expect a big splash! Seaworld also has a waterpark that kids of all ages can enjoy.

Hollywood Studios
Although this one is run by Disney, its actually a lot of fun. Go behind the scenes and learn how Disney’s television shows are made. “Co-star” in a show and if you are lucky, you can sit in while they film your one of your favorites.

Outta Control Dinner Show
Perhaps the best dinner theatre in Orlando. Grub on some tasty eats and sit back for a comedy, mystery, or tragedy.

Ripley’s Believe it or Not
Possibly one of the best things to do in Orlando. Walk through the museum and view the interesting collection of items. See for yourself what bizarre things get folks saying, “believe it or not…” Check out our Ripley’s Believe it or Not review.
