Are you going to Destin, Florida for your family vacation this year? Well, we have the perfect activity that the whole family will love! We know your kids love to torture you, always begging to go on the most stomach-wrenching rides at those little carnivals that come to your town once or twice a year. Well, now is the time to get your revenge! Take them parasailing!
Now, I know you are thinking “why would I want to torture myself in such a way?”
What to Expect
Well, believe it or not, parasailing is not a high-adrenaline adventure like a rollercoaster ride or skydiving adventure would be. In fact, even your mom would probably like parasailing! The ride is actually very slow; you do not shoot up into the air really fast, and when it is over, you glide down gracefully. It is definitely not an eight hundred foot free fall! While you are up in the parachute, it is actually really quiet and peaceful. Parasailing is slow and easy, and from way up high, you get a gorgeous view of the beaches of Destin. Some people who go even spot dolphins and stingrays from their terrific vantage point! So while your children shreik in fear, you, Brave Mom, can stay cool and calm as a cucumer, and for once call them the wimps!
The company Just Chute Me Parasail, located right in Destin, is known as the best and most competitively priced parasailing company in Destin. While most companies only offer one option, with Just Chute Me, you actually pay depending on how high you want to go. You can choose to go up 400, 600, or 800 feet. Just Chute Me boasts several all-new Coast Guard inspected twelve passenger parasail boats. The Captain and crew are highly experienced, and are also known for being quite the characters. Captain John will make sure that you come back to see him year after year.
Just Chute Me is also known as having some of the best prices in town. And they are centrally located on Destin Harbor at the Marina Cafe Yacht Club. You simply board the boat from the dock. Many other parasailing companies require you to swim from shore to their boat, so this easy boarding offered by Just Chute Me is a definite plus. Parasailing is super safe, fun, and easy, and children as young as seven can go. You can go two, and sometimes even three at a time, which is a lot more fun than going alone. Once you experience the fun of parasailing, you will want to make Just Chute Me a family tradition for your vacations to Destin!
Tips for Visiting
If you are planning on going parasailing with Just Chute Me, here are some tips you should know about before you go. First of all, you have to have a reservation in advance. You can even book your parasailing trip with them online. Just Chute Me is only open from March thru September, because the winter months are generally too windy and wet for parasailing. Boats depart every hour and a half, and Just Chute Me is open from 8AM to sunset. Close to sunset is a great time to go parasailing because you are most likely to see dolphins or other sea life then.
People of any age can go, although there is a minimum weight of 90 pounds. Many times, the captain will approve a child who is lighter than this, so call if you are wanting to go with a child that weighs less than this. Participants who are under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver. The maximum weight for parasailing is about 450 pounds, but again, this is subject to the captain’s approval.
